Guildford Scape

Here at Sertus, we took a particular interest in this student accommodation development as it’s situated immediately adjacent to the unit where the Whitesales Group was founded in 1983, and it’s under ten miles from our current headquarters and factory! Consisting of 403 beds across two blocks and a 116-bed co-living block, we were asked by the main contractor’s in-house M&E department to design, manufacture, install and commission the entire smoke ventilation system as a turnkey package on a stand-alone contract.

The main challenge of this project was an extremely tight mobilisation period of under four weeks. This project also used a wide range of our equipment and had a combined mechanical and natural system, all requiring control via the Sertus Addressable Control System.

This has been a successful project for all parties, with the building handed over on time, in full and within the original budget, ready for the September intake of students. In all, we installed the equipment to two natural cores and two mechanical cores.
