1
Initial Brief

Sertus were approached to design, supply, and commission a mechanical smoke ventilation system at the Warwick House office-to-residential refurbishment scheme. The scheme was designed to retain the cafeteria at ground floor and the existing brick exterior. Also included in the scheme was a car park for 29 vehicles.

As there are different smoke ventilation requirements for office spaces than those for residential developments, the smoke ventilation system required changes to suit the building's new use.

2
Challenges

As is the nature of refurbishments, this project had unusual sized smoke shafts, as a result, the conventional dimensions for the shaft vents did not fit into the shaft. Working with the main contractor, the Sertus design team worked to create a bespoke product for specifically this project that still conformed to legislative requirements.

3
Outcome

The project was successfully commissioned and handed over allowing the new residents to move in.
