The Sertus Basement Mechanical Pod – Commercial (BMP-C) is a modular smoke extraction Pod which provides a prefabricated, pre-commissioned solution for basement ventilation. They are supplied fully assembled with adjustable mounting connections, primary and secondary attenuators, duty and duty extract fans, anti-vibration mounts and backdraft dampers. These units are suitable for offices and commercial basements, back of house basements areas, and basement car parks and are available with a wide range of standard extract rates. They may also be utilised for basement environmental ventilation and for pollution extract to satisfy the requirements of ventilation of car parks.
The fan sets are certified to BS EN 12101-3:2015 Specification for powered smoke and heat control ventilators (Fans) and all supporting framework and associate metalwork is galvanised after fabrication to BS EN ISO 1461 ‘hot dip’ galvanized coatings on iron and steel articles to give robust and corrosion-free products even in the most demanding of environments.
The control system includes Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Variable Speed Drives (VSD) and PLC control of primary and secondary supplies and duty and standby fans. It is designed to BS ISO 21927-3 and in accordance with the standard ANSI/ISA-18.2-2009 Management of Alarm Systems and provides an extensive event and alarm log within its flash card memory.
BMP-C systems for offices and commercial basements including back of house areas, typically include fire rated ductwork and fire and smoke dampers to ensure fire compartmentation and control is maintained and would be designed to extract at 10 Air changes per hour (AcH). With the inclusion of inlet air supply, they may also provide environmental ventilation and may be controlled by the integrated Real Time Clock (RTC) or temperature sensors. All of these functions may be displayed on the GUI panel which monitors the complete system and provides manual intervention if required.
BMP-C systems for carparks may include BCF-C Centrifugal or BAF-C Axial induction fans, Carbon Monoxide Sensors, and Firefighter Override Extract Switch. In addition to providing smoke clearance and extract at 10 AcH they may operate to provide pollution extract to satisfy Approved Document F at up to 6 AcH. This function is controlled by the Carbon Monoxide Sensors which measure CO parts per million (ppm) and will activate the system intelligently from low to high extract using the VSD and dependant on active CO concentration.
