Shaft Fire Damper – Residential (SFD-R), are fire and smoke control dampers designed for use in Mechanical Smoke Ventilation System (MSVS) to protect the passage of fire, smoke, and heat in the closed position. During normal operation, the SFD-R damper is open and in case of fire the smoke damper moves to the closed position.
They are typically installed into smoke control shafts and ducts to provide environmental ventilation to corridors and lobbies in residential buildings.
They are certified to BS EN 15650:2010 and have a fire-resistance class of EIS 120. They may be used in multi-compartmented smoke control ducts and have an integrity and insulation of 120 minutes and smoke leakage to S1000. In addition, they have been tested for reliability up to 10,000 cycles for use as environmental ventilation.
When installed into a standard smoke shaft of 120min fire rating they can achieve EI 120 (vew ho i‹–›o) S where E – integrity, I – insulation, S – smoke leakage, vew – damper installed in vertical compartment (wall), i‹–›o – the fire performance criteria are met on both sides, 120 – classification time in which criteria E, I and S are met, expressed in minutes.
They are manufactured with a galvanised steel casing, and a fire rated mineral asymmetrical blade and operate by a drive open/spring close BFL24-SR-T 24V AC/DC Belimo actuator. The actuator is controlled by a AC 24V open signal and moves to its open position where it is held open until the current if removed or the internal duct temperature exceeds 72°C when an internal fuse will break the current internally and the damper will close.
The damper has positional micro-switches and provides signalling to indicate that it is in the open or closed position.
In addition, modulating dampers may be specified where the opening position may be controlled by a 0 – 10V DC signal.
SFD-R are available in dimensions of internal width 200 to 800mm and internal height 200 to 500mm with intermediate dimensions of 50mm increments inner width from 200 to 800 mm.
