Sertus were approached to work closely with key stakeholders on the project and deliver a smoke ventilation system that answered all the technical specifications, particularly addressing the risk of contamination on the top three levels due to an extended corridor stretching over 40 metres.
The challenge we faced on this project was the task of protecting the 40m extended corridor on the top three floors which presents a significant risk of smoke contamination. To mitigate this risk, Sertus installed a two-Pod hybrid system which was a reversible natural-inlet-mechanical-extract system with the mechanical Pod closest to the location of the smoke extracting with the other shaft being used as a natural inlet shaft.
The hybrid ventilation system was fully commissioned in May 2020, providing the corridors with both environmental and smoke ventilation ready for the fresh intake of students.
