Introducing our new industry-leading Access Hatch

Earlier in the year we launched a brand new damper, the SND-R, and since then the focus has been on bringing you an industry leading access hatch. And here it is, the revamped RAH-C.

You may recognise the name of this product, and that’s because it’s not brand new, but it’s been given a facelift by our R&D team in order to make it the best option for your project’s access needs.

The RAH-C has been re-engineered and fine tuned to meet market needs and demands, so let’s get into some of the features…

The product has an insulated upstand and cover for strong thermal properties, so the building it’s being installed on won’t lose any extra heat with it being there. One of the main revamps which has been recently implemented is an improved weather tightness design, mitigating the fear of leaks caused by harsh weather conditions.

At Sertus, along with a high quality product, safety always tops our list of priorities, so we’ve implemented both internal and external locking. You may wonder why you’d want the product to lock from the outside, well, if someone’s on the roof, external locking prevents injury from potential falls.

One of the top features of this product is once it’s open, it won’t be able to close until a manual catch on the gas strut is moved. This removes the risk of the gas strut failing under the force of the wind or other external forces and subsequently causing injury.

We know aesthetic is also important, so we offer the option for your RAH-C to be powder coated in any standard RAL colour, in order to match your project’s design. If you decide against powder coating, it will come with an external mill finish and an internal white powder coating as standard.

In terms of sizing, Sertus offer a huge range of sizes up to 1500x1500mm, I’ll link the product page below for a full range of sizing options. The RAH-C also comes with options for a curb or a collar. If you chose the curbing option, this would be weathered in with roofing waterproofing, whereas a collar fits on a pre-weather upstand. And to finish off the main features, the product opens to an angle of 85 degrees, for ease of access along with easy closing.

You may be wondering to yourself, what are the main changes which warrant this relaunch? Well, along with the previously mentioned improvements on weather tightness, the product is now being engineered and developed to a higher quality than previously, which naturally offers you a higher quality of finish.

The finishing has been made sleeker, and the implementation of the previously mentioned locking gas strut is a hugely beneficial feature. The gas struts themselves have also been made stronger with a carefully calculated pressure and strong hinge design to ensure that minimal force is needed to open the unit manually. And in case you needed any assurance on this product, it comes with a 5 year guarantee!

The main benefit here is the incredibly easy install, the product’s design supports rapid installation and Sertus also have availability from stock, meaning contractors can complete projects on time.

Creating a product this efficiently doesn’t come without it’s challenges, the main challenge with the RAH-C being the creation of a robust rubber seal design to create excellent weather tightness and protection from day-to-day usage of hatch operators. Robotic welding has also been implemented to offer a consistently neat finish. And while maintaining the thermal performance of the unit, Sertus are now able to offer the product in contrasting external and internal powder coating, so the external colour doesn’t have to be the same as internal.
