The Sertus Mechanical Pod Environmental (RMP-R | E) provides ventilation throughout the building core by using the smoke shaft or service shaft and stair core to circulate ambient external air to cool the temperature within the common corridors or lobbies. This also has the benefit of providing replacement air to remove unwanted smells and stale air to maintain healthy indoor air quality and environment.
Improved building energy efficiency and increased use of centralised heating systems, boilers and hot water pipework in multi-storey residential schemes can also result in significant heat build-up affecting residents and operatives working in the building. The Mechanical Pod Environmental provides a ventilation system with minimal setup costs to improve indoor air quality. Also available as a retrofitted solution to existing smoke ventilation systems as a corrective measure to overheating.
The Mechanical Pod Environmental system is supplied prewired in a prefabricated assembly with contrasting powder coating to RAL7016 Anthracite Grey and RAL7032 mid grey and factory commissioned ready for a single lift to rooftop. The Pod incorporates an IP65 rated Sertus Control panel incorporating heating and cooling to maintain healthy conditions for electrical equipment, external system status, mains power isolator, Variable drive inverter, and environmental cooling inputs. The fan is mounted on anti-vibration mounts to ensure smooth running and four adjustable 500mm square feet provide stable support and spread the load evenly on to any roof finish. A backdraft damper complete with bird mesh and a 24V power open/close Smoke Damper is installed on the outlet and inlet to protect the system when in standby mode.
The extract fans are CE marked and meet Energy-related Products (ErP) directive 2009/125/EC Regulation 327/2011, to ensure minimal running costs. Fan extract rates are controlled by internal temperature sensors via the variable speed drive which is controlled via a 0-10V signal. The system also adaptively controls air inlet vents, fire and smoke dampers to ensure an effective flow rate is maintained.
Graphical User Interface (GUI) displays the system status including zone temperatures, zones active, fan speed and with the Real-Time Clock (RTC) allows control for seasons, weekday and day/night time operation. The RTC enables pre-set day, week, month giving the ability to provide pre-cooling in warmer months if required. The GUI provides overall control of the Smoke and Environmental ventilation systems by taking inputs from corridor temperature sensors and fire & smoke sensors enabling both the environmental and smoke operations to be displayed. This is unique to Sertus and means that in the event of the system going into fire mode, the panel will intelligently switch instantly from environmental to smoke extraction, with no risk of two separate systems both operating during the fire.
The efficient fan design and primary and secondary attenuation ensure noise levels are kept to a minimum inside and outside the building to ensure sound levels are acceptable to building occupants and neighbours.
