Shaft Louvre Damper Description

Shaft Louvre Damper (SLD), are multi-zone smoke control dampers and designed for use in natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems. They are typically installed into shafts to provide extract ventilation to corridors and into smoke control ducts in residential and commercial buildings.

They are certified to BS EN 12101-8:2011 and have a fire resistance class of EIS 120. They may be used in multi-compartmented smoke control ducts and have an integrity and insulation of 120 minutes. In addition they have been tested for reliability up to 10,000 cycles and may be used for environmental ventilation.

They are manufactured with a steel casing, and fire rated multi-blade louvres and operate by a drive open/drive close 24V AC/DC Belimo actuator. They are supplied with a hinged white linear grill internally which provides a neat finish whilst enabling quick access for commissioning and service.

Is the Aerodynamic Free Area available for the SLD?

The aerodynamic area does not apply to dampers or EN12101-8; it is specific to natural smoke vents under EN12101-2.

Can the SLD be installed in any orientation?

The SLD is certified for vertical installation only and is not approved for horizontal installation.

Do you need a 1.5m² free area natural vent?

Yes, we can provide our 120.170 SLD, which consists of two 60.170 SLD units.

Where can the actuator be located?

The actuator can be positioned either at the top or the bottom of the SLD.

What is the minimum wall thickness for installation?

The minimum wall thickness required is 125mm for flexible walls.

What is the electrical rating for the SLD?

The standard electrical rating is 24V/0.3A DC, but it can be configured for 230V AC if needed.

Can the SLD recess inside the shaft?

Dampers may protrude slightly into the shaft in most cases, but this typically does not pose an issue.
